Established in 2004, French Engineering, LLC (FE) is a transportation engineering consulting firm located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, 15 minutes from Uniontown, PA and 20 minutes from Morgantown, WV. Founded in May 2004 by Millie S. French, M.S.C.E., P.E. and Lloyd J. French III, Ph.D., P.E., ENV SP, LEED Green Associate (Jim), we provide expertise in traffic and safety engineering, water resources engineering, and sustainable infrastructure planning and design.

OUR SOFTWARE AND EQUIPMENT

Our traffic engineering staff currently utilizes Synchro, the Highway Capacity Software (HCS), SIDRA, Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE), Highway Safety Software, and Vissim for traffic analysis, as well as custom-designed spreadsheets. We have 13 video cameras and mounting systems, an AI camera with onboard processing, 8 JAMAR Automated Traffic Recorder (ATR) counters, and JAMAR Black Cat II Radar for field traffic data collection. We also have an electronic ball bank indicator for horizontal curve evaluation, and a radar gun for spot speed studies.

We use Microstation and Open Roads Designer (ORD) for computer-aided drafting and roadway design, respectively. We also are fluent with AutoTurn and SignCAD for specialized traffic-related engineering / drafting applications.

Our water resources staff uses a wide range of hydrologic and hydraulic software packages to ensure the correct tool is used for each job. These include HEC-RAS with RAS Mapper, Watershed Modeling System (WMS), HY-8 for culvert hydraulics, EFH 2, TR-55, PSU-IV, and the Storm Water Management Model (SWMM).
